The Mimmi-Sigille

She carries what we often don’t want to see. Mimmi is more than a figure – she is a mirror.Every gram on her stands for a burden that has been carried. For unspoken words, repressed feelings, unresolved tasks. It shows the human body not as an ideal, but as truth – shaped by experience, pain and strength.

Originally it was a wooden sculpture. But the wood was too soft for her message. My husband and I had it cast in bronze – to give its weight, its history, permanence.

And yet: the image on paper remained empty. We searched, drew, discarded. Until one morning, our failed sketches arranged themselves into a circle. This circle became our ornament. Multiplied eight times clockwise – created from a single Mimmi.

For me, it is a symbol of the ancestral line. A visible imprint of everything that has been passed on. And what can finally be looked at.
